It appears that Wimbledon has been given a new rolling lease
This should see racing carry on until the end of the year and possibly beyond.
They will need to retain the trainers they have and add to it, however of course the big question is would you put a dog there even knowing that they will continue to race until the end of the year at least.
The local management has come to an agreement with land-owners Galliards on a two year contract, This has a six month termination clause while a planning application to develop the site is considered by the incoming London Mayor. that might well take a while to decide.
Galliards’ plan to build housing alongside a football stadium was passed by the local Merton Council but ‘called in’ by present London Mayor Boris Johnson really at the last minute
The planning issues could drag on for months meaning the stadium could be open well into next year and stage the 2017 English Derby.
The track intends to race just once a week on a Saturday after the Derby finishes in June until they resume screening their Thursday night cards on Racing Post TV in September Clearly they also use Open races to fill some gaps if needed.
Cleary its good news but the hope is that Pascal and his team can put forward a design that meets with approval, the football team won't go away and the hope is that some sort of sense will be seen however its not beyond them to change there plan to ensure it gets passed off again, so it a plus but still lots of work to do
